The Alan Jones Memorial Shield

alanjonesmemorial

The Jones family has provided the perpetual ALAN JONES MEMORIAL SHIELD for post war sports cars, in memory of Alan who was killed in a 1979 road accident on the way home from Winton.

Alan Jones initiated the Austin Healey Owners Club of NSW. He loved his Healeys, particularly the 100/S and was responsible for the presence of most of the 100/S's in Australia.

He was also a great supporter of the Austin Healey movement in the US such that his passing was reported in a major US Healey newsletter in 1979.

The Shield has been presented since 1980, awarded to 1st place in Group Sa.
